A warm and affectionate welcome from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Bhagwan Mahavir College of Engg & Tech, Surat. It is one of the professional engineering disciplines that are most vibrant and innovative in terms of student activity, facility, research and designing. Our department has a team of qualified and experienced faculty and staff members and we are striving hard continuously to improve upon the quality of education and to maintain its position of leadership in engineering and technology. We always work with the motto ““All Birds find shelter during a rain. But Eagle avoids rain by flying above the Clouds.” – Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.” The core values of the department help the students to develop their overall personality and make them worthy technocrat to compete and work at competitive global level with multidimensional personalities. Overview of the Lab

This lab consist of PC with software loaded of Matlab student version and Multisim for the Control Engineering and Simulation Design Tools respectively.

Microwave Engineering

Microwave communication lab is being performed by the students of final year in electronics and communication and electronics branch. Various experiments are being performed based on Microwave communication like Standing wave ratio, Radiation pattern, Isolator and circulator performance. Few of different instruments of this lab are:

1. Isolator

Circuit and networks lab

This lab consists of different practicals which gives an idea about the different aspects of network terminology.

There are different experiment related to this subject which includes: 

Kirchoff's Current Law, Kirchoff's Voltage Law, Superposition theorem, Thevinin's theorem, reciprocity theorem etc. There are experiments which are based on Two Port Network. 

Different components which are available are :

1. Network Theorem Kit

2. Two-port network kit

3. Resistance decade box

4. Multimeter

This lab comprises of different experiments based on analog communication. Examples of these experiments are: Different types of amplitude modulation and demodulation, frequency modulation and demodulation, phase modulation, super heterodyne receivers.

Few of the instruments which are being used to perform this lab are:

  2. Frequency modulation and demodulation kit
  3. Function generator

This lab comprises of different experiments based on digital communication. Examples of these experiments are: Different types of digital modulation and demodulation techniques.

Few of the instruments which are being used to perform this lab are:

  1. Pulse code modulation and demodulation kit

EEE lab is being performed by the students of first year of all branches. Various experiments are being performed based on Electrical Networks like Ohm’s law, Power Measurement in AC circuit, Resistance in series & parallel etc. Few of different instruments of this lab are:

Optical communication lab is being performed by the students of final year in electronics and communication and electronics branch. Various experiments are being performed based on Optical communication like Analog & Digital Link, eye pattern generator etc. Few of different instruments of this lab are:

Microcontroller and interfacing

Laboratory of MCI was being performed by the students of the EC and Electronics in semester 5. It consists of different experiments based on the 8051.

All practical on interfacing were also included for real time applications.

Antenna & Wave Propagation

Laboratory of antenna and wave propagation was being performed by the students of the EC and Electronics in semester 6. It consist of different experiments based on the antennas e.g. different antenna parameters like Gain, Bandwidth and Radiation pattern. Few of thwe instruments which are being used for the performance are :

  1. Dipole antenna
  2. Monopole antenna
  3. Loop antenna
  4. Folded dipole antenna
  5. Antenna stand

Analog Circuit Design

This lab comprises of different experiments based on  741 Op-amp IC and 555 Timer IC. Examples of these experiments are: Integrators, Differentiator, Filters, Multivibrators, parameters of op-amp etc.

Few of the instruments which are being used to perform this lab are:

  1. Negative feedback amplifier using 741
  2. Oscillators using  741
  3. Waveform generator kit using op-amp
  4. Astable and monostable multivibrators using 555 timer

Power Electronics Devices and Circuits

This lab comprises of different experiments based on Power Electronics Devices & Circuits Examples of these experiments are: SCR , DIAC, TRIAC characteristics, half wave rectifier using SCR etc.

Few of the instruments which are being used to perform this lab are:
